“This was thus far our favorite activity we have done in Thailand, due in large part to our guide, Mong. I have been an outdoor guide for almost a decade and Mong is among the most professional guides I've ever seen. The trip itself was fantastic. All of the stops we really enjoyed. Mong structured it to avoid the biggest crowds and called an audible on the itinerary to give us a better time. The boat was nice, lunch was great, and the overall experience 10/10. Book it!”

“Was really nice to have a private boat for the 4 of us. Great boat ride to see the lake and mountain scenery. Spider cave was also very cool (our captain guided us and provided flashlights). Had stops to take iconic photos. We got to the floating houses/restaurant before other boats so was nice to enjoy swimming and the peacefulness before others came. Boat was comfortable and captain was great. Easy to book and communication was very good with directions for parking and meeting at the pier (we drove a rental car).”

“Our day started at a morning food market. A great insight into local lives. Then on to the elephant camp. Being in a small group, each ‘family’ unit was allocated an elephant (& trainer) to bathe. This was an amazing experience on its own. Following the elephants baths, we were provided with drinks & snacks before moving on to Monkey Temple. Only a short stop here before moving on. A gentle punt along the river on a traditional bamboo raft. Our ‘driver’ pointing out wildlife and beautiful scenery along the way. A stop for tea or coffee, made using bamboo over a fire to heat the water near some caves…”

“This was a solo adventure and there was a group of 12 with everyone from a different country. The national park is stunning. The waterfalls and pagoda and views are great even in the clouds. The nature trail was the best part but honestly if it was raining could be treacherous so good shoes are important. I wish we had more time on the trail. As where the waterfalls and rainforest and views are at their best.”

Leave Bangkok for an 11-hour small-group day at Khao Yai National Park. Walk a 3 to 4-kilometer jungle trail, visit Haew Suwat and Haew Narok waterfalls, and watch for monkeys, deer, birds, reptiles, and possibly elephants. Guides such as Bond and Tanya are praised for making the outing lively and informative.

“Very enjoyable experience overall. I travelled solo and there was only myself and 1 other guy doing the trip. You need a good level of fitness to complete this, the visit to the waterfall requires an extremely long descent and climb back up. The walk itself through the national park was challenging, I would not recommend doing this anytime during the wet season as the path was still very muddy. You should be aware there is an extremely long driving time involved, it's about 6hr in total of driving between the journey there and back which was not advertised. We did not see any animals during the actual walk, however…”

“What an incredible experience being with the elephants. Loved the feeding, mud bathing and washing of our majestic elephant in the beautiful Khao Sok National Park. There are many elephant sanctuaries but chose this one for its ethical approach towards their elephants. Also enjoyed the relaxing bamboo rafting, a visit to a Buddhist Temple, viewpoint and lovely authentic lunch. Our guide, Didi went above and beyond in looking after us and her knowledge was incredible.”

“Booked this as a solo traveler since it is a must-do from Chiang Mai. Mediocre experience. Lots of time wasted before getting to the national park (~1h picking up from hotels, ~40 min stop at gas station for food) meaning the actual 2h hike takes place during the hottest part of the day (1-3p). The tour guide provides no value (no explanation of history, doesn’t walk around the pagodas or waterfall with you).”

Meet an English-speaking guide at Phuket Elephant Nature Reserve, learn each elephant’s story, prepare food, and watch the animals eat and roam freely. The 1.5-hour visit includes feeding and jungle observation, but no riding, bathing, or touching.

“Amazing tour and great to see one of very few ethical elephant sanctuaries in Phuket. We learned about the unethical practices of places where you bathe elephants or ride them and it was heartbreaking, so glad this place is rescuing them and still providing a great tourist experience. We did the 1.5 hour tour and it was perfect, we got to see several elephants, take up close pics with them, make their food and feed them. It was so cool to see the elephants in a calm and positive environment, and feel like our money was making a difference at the sanctuary. Would highly recommend this tour over any others…”
